When we moved to another state, we downloaded the Skype software and then walked around our new place holding the laptop to give our friends back home a tour. At first it made me feel a bit like we were super futuristic, like in The Jetsons, but now I love being able to keep in touch with our loved ones face to face via Skype. Stories told by your best friend are so much better when you can see hand gestures and facial expressions, even when you are physically separated by a huge distance.
Plus? It’s way easier to cook dinner while you chat when your hands are free! And as an added bonus, your BFF on the other side of the screen can remind you that you forgot to add the eggs to your lasagna and that will totally save your meal. Being able to peek in on one another while you’re talking totally has it’s perks. Andplusalso? Group messaging! Confession: sometimes group messaging with my best girlfriends gets us so giggly that my husband heads for the television in the other room.
But for people with much bigger distances keeping them apart, Skype is more than just convenient. As evidenced in the video below, it’s a wonderful way to stay in touch and experience life together despite being apart.
