Scarlette was in the backseat singing “Let It Go” and then she started making up her own lyrics, singing about Mommy and Daddy and Sunshine to the tune of “Let It Go” when halfway through she stopped, held up her hands and said “WAIT JUST A MINUTE. IS DIS A NEW VERSION OF DAT SONG?” And we were like, well YOU’RE making up the words here so…yes?
In other stories about Scarlette shenanigans, after a time-out I usually ask her “Okay, are you ready to talk about it?” Yesterday the timer dinged and before I got the chance she looked at me and said “Oh Mommy, if only dere was somebody who I could talk to about dis.”
Which seems to be a theme around here because the other day in the middle of a post-timeout discussion she heaved about big sigh and said “Hey, can we talk about somefing else?”
Plus, she’s pretty much memorized the entirety of Frozen and then randomly inserts lines from the movies into our conversations. I asked Scarlette to shut her bedroom door to keep Lucy Dog out and she raised her hands and asked “Mommy, can I say somefing CWAZY?” I was all, “Um, sure Scarlette” And THEN she threw her hands out to the side and sang “ALL MY LIFE HAS BEEN A SERIES OF DOORS IN MY FACE!”
Here are some other random funny conversations I’ve recorded lately:
♥ Scarlette keeps running into whatever room I am in, throwing her hands in the air and yelling “HEY! IT’S ME! SHCARWUTBONNE!”
♥ Our waitress just came by and asked “How are y’all doing?” And Scarlette said “Well actuawwy I not feewing so good wite now. Yeah. Cause my mommy took my cwayons”
♥ Anytime we ask Scarlette if she would like to have something she answers “Yep! I surely would! I surely would wike dat!”
♥ She asked me to do her hair like a robot. Then she looked in the mirror and said “Actuawwy Mommy, dis is not wobot hair. Dis wooks wike a bery nice bunny wabbit.” (photo evidence)
♥ I told Scarlette I got her a something while I was at the store. She said “OH YOU GOT ME A PWIZE? WHAT KINDA SUPWIZE? IS IT ANIMALS? DOES IT HAB A WION? OH! I KNOW! IS IT A ROBOT? A GIANT ROBOT FOR ME?” It’s a new bath rug. It’s a real cute bath rug for her bathroom but I feel as though it might be a bit of a disappointment following the ANIMALS AND LIONS AND ROBOTS prediction.
♥ Me: Scarlette, can you please put all of the toilet paper back in the cabinet for Mommy? That would be really helpful of you!
Scarlette: Ohhhhh wight, I know it WOULD be helpful Mommy but dat is just not possible wight now.
♥ After I told Scarlette that I was feeling frustrated with her behavior (do y’all see a theme here? Three is HARD.)
Scarlette: “OHHH well actauawwy sometimes when you feel fwustwated you just can make anudder choice to be happy because you can just be happy and it’s bery hard to feel fwustwated!”
She delivered this speech to me as though she was being SO HELPFUL to aide me in working through all my feelings and not at all like the topic of said conversation was her actions. Also, my mother was on the phone with me as this went down and spent the entire time laughing hysterically THANKS FOR THE BACKUP, MOTHER.
♥ I heard a tiny voice, opened my eyes and this is literally what I woke up to: Scarlette is standing in front of my full length mirror looking at her reflection and saying to it “Oh, hi! My name Sharwut. I just waitin for my mommy to wake up so I can hab some bweakfast. Can you you help me? YOU CAN?! Dat’s terrific!”
