You can probably guess from the backdrop of the majority of my photos that we spend a LOT of time on our back deck. It’s just the right size for a certain tiny someone to take a stroll with Baby Elmo or chase Lucy Dog around in circles. And for us grown-up people, well, we have a pretty spectacular view.
I have to give Jeff all of the credit here and concede that he was right and I was wrong.<- You will not see THAT in writing often. Because when we moved into this house the deck, although not old, was in a state of disrepair. And he put in all of the elbow grease to fix it up. Sidenote: Guys with tools are sexy. And then he decided it would be good to stain and weatherproof the deck so that it looked nicer and would fare better in the weather (like the extreme Georgia heat.)
And I was all “the deck is fine, you don’t need to stain it” even though it was this ugly, dingy gray color. And kind of looked like it might go up in flames if a spark from our grill landed on it. Jeff pointed to one of our neighbors who’s deck HAD gone up in flames when a spark from their grill landed on it and was like “Yeah, I’m staining and sealing the deck.”
He used Flood® Wood Care to stain and weatherproof both the back deck and the front porch. My husband is the sort of person who does a LOT of research before he purchases a product. Almost to the point of making his spouse crazy. Almost. Execpt that he puts up with a decent bit of crazy from me so I let it slide. Besides, he’s a good decision maker. So that’s how we ended up using Flood® Wood Care, because of their reputation for being “The Wood Care Specialist.” They’re like the Dog Whisperer of wood. I just made that last part up. I’ve never actually watched the Dog Whisperer.
But he did get all of that done in less than one day, which is a pretty quick application process. And it’s stood up really well through the seasons.
So anyhow, the deck looks great now and I think his next big project is the back fence so he’s matching up some Flood® Wood Care colors so that he can get his Tom Sawyer on. What are y’all tackling this summer?
