Totally stumped on gift ideas for the tween girl in your life? No worries, I’ve got you. I’m saving Christmas. I’m like your own personal Buddy the Elf. Because my life is full of tween girls and so I polled actual tween girls for these gift ideas, mostly on account of how I needed ideas on what to buy my own tween nieces. (Dear nieces, do not read this post please and thank you.)
Here are the top requested gifts from the tween girls on my list:
1.) Stabilo Boss Highlighters – If office supplies seem like an odd choice for a gift idea, well then clearly you were not a tween girl in the nineties. All I wanted in 1995 was a Sanrio pencil box. And I have it on good authority that in 2019, Stabilo Boss Highlighters are THE THING you must have in middle school these days. They’re the status symbol of highlighters. And they are cute, inexpensive, and on Amazon Prime so you can snag them before Christmas. Grab a pack here.
2.) Scrunchies – Also a 90’s girl staple, scrunchies are currently worn on the wrist or stacked several deep around the ankle. And a girl needs a lot of options of patterns and solids to coordinate with her outfits. Luckily you can get a megapack on Amazon here but favorites among tween girls are these stylish scrunchies from Aerie. (Also, they are half off at Aerie right now so I highly recommend. Mostly because these are what I bought.)
3.) Cute portable chargers – apparently a girl needs to charge ALL the devices on the go. Now you’re charging in style.
4.) Fuzzy socks – “but like, cute ones.” These sets were tween approved.
5.) Face masks – apparently skin care is all the rage. My 9-year-old and her friends are constantly lounging on my couch rocking random face masks while they watch Liv & Maddie. These fun animal face masks make for great stocking stuffers and if your girl is very into the face mask movement, try out FaceTory. FaceTory is a monthly subscription box full of face masks! (You can take 50% off with the code CACTUS50)
6.) Press-on nails – My nieces assure me that these are what tween girls want. Who am I kidding, these look exactly like something Lover-era Taylor Swift would wear. *I* want these!
7. ) Glittery phone cases – so the caveat here is that you need to know what type of phone to buy for but word on the street is that the cases that have glitter encased in liquid are what you’re looking for here. As an Elder Millennial, putting liquid in your phone case seems real risky to me but I’m told that “it’s totally FINE Aunt Kayla” and that swirly glitter cases are
And if you’re looking to be a bit more spendy than stocking stuffers, these are big items my nieces put on their wishlists this year:
8.) Fuji Instax Camera – It’s like we’re going backwards in time the further I get down this list, am I right? I sort of love that in our digital era this generation of girls is digging the tactile print photography.
9.) Rope Sling Bag – I don’t know, maybe they’re all going hiking? In any case, this is cute and practical and I support this.
10.) Hydroflask – Listen, I am for the hydration of small children. And if she already has a hydroflask, snag these hydroflask stickers. Trust me on the stickers.
Other popular requests? Target and Barnes and Noble gift cards. Train up a child in the way she should go and all. The women in my family are raising these kids right.
