Hey guys:) Thank all of you for your kind words, prayers, and encouragements. I know it means so much to Kayla and her family. I am going to continue relaying to her all of the love you all are giving through your thoughts and actions.
Here is an update on what is going on in the hospital room: As of this morning and afternoon, things were looking positive-no more dialation or contractions and baby and momma's vitals were all good. The medicine she was taking was doing it's job but it was time to begin to decrease the amount given, and eventually eliminate using it by this evening(there is only so long that it can be given during a time period). This morning they spoke to a neo natal nurse; the nurse was very informative and gave them lots of answers as to what to expect in this situation during labor, delivery, recovery, ect. She was very helpful and encouraging to them. When Kayla was examined earlier this evening things did not look so well; still no more dialation but contractions returned(in the decline and eventual absence of the meds). They have begun a second type of medication to delay/prevent labor. These drugs too will make her sick and loopy. And these drugs too, can only be administered for a limited amount of time. Also, upon the same examination the doctor found that her cervix is very soft and the baby is putting a lot of pressure on the cervix. I am sure many of you know why this is not good but in case some may be wondering, a 'ripe'(softening) cervix and pressure from baby means labor(it is coming out of the oven). It is does not apper likely to her doctor that keeping this bun in for 2 more weeks is much of a possibility. And in addition, the baby is breech(feet down). The doctor told them that if her position does not change before labor, a c-section is in order. This will cause more trama to the pre term baby so…move baby move!:)
In their earlier disscusion with the neo natal nurse, they were informed that if she were to be born before another 2 weeks, it is a 70% survival rate. In that percentage there is a 20% chance of one or more of these: possible blindness, hemeraging on the brain, and oxygen deficiency(because of her under developed lungs).
I know I don't even have to ask for your prayers-you have all been praying with/for her, for a long time now. Thank you guys for your faithfullness to Kayla in giving her your support and companionship. Thank you for bearing this burden with us.
