Recently I was asked to be a contributor to the Idea Lounge at Wayfair, which I was pretty excited about because we are still living mid-renovation around here so I am not lacking for home improvement projects to share. Plus, I just really like Wayfair because it’s kind of one-stop shopping for all things home decor.
As a bonus, I was given $100 to shop their Daily Sales section, which is sort of like the flash sale portion of their site. They launch every day at noon EST and are up to 70% off. You know I like a good sale and they offer it across multiple categories, so it looks something like this:
I stalked the sales for a few days because I really want a rug for our living room but alas, I have my heart set on rugby stripes and couldn’t find quite what I was looking for. I also campaigned fairly hard for this patio lantern so that I could dress Scarlette up and act out scenes from The Chronicles Of Narnia but for some reason my husband was all against that.
In the end I decided to be spectacularly sensible and ordered a new light for our kitchen on account of how there has been a gaping hole over our sink since we took out the can lights months ago. Finding an affordable wall mounted kitchen light has been giving me fits, y’all. I didn’t want to replace all the lighting in there so I wanted something that matched the existing fixtures. I found a ton of light fixtures that I loved but nothing that was wall-mounted because most kitchen sinks are not positioned the way ours is. And I also didn’t want something that looked too much like a porch light, which is basically what most mounted fixtures are.
So obviously I was excited to see the industrial lighting category pop up in the Daily Sales and debated styles for a few minutes when I noticed the one I liked the most was only thirty five dollars and also that there were only four left. We haven’t actually mounted the light yet because neither one of us is totally sure about the whole “wiring electric stuff” thing. I’ve only done it once before with supervision so we are waiting for my mother to come for the holiday weekend and show us how to do it. Then I’ll post a full before and after so you can see what it looks like since we tore down a cabinet and painted too.
And then because I am an amazing wife I did NOT buy myself cute home decor and instead I bought a new rain barrel to surprise my husband. Unlike The Mysterious Case Of The Missing Rain Barrel, this one arrived promptly at my house. It was huge. I have no idea how it is even possible someone lost one of these things. This time, though, I did buy the slightly girlier rain barrel that has a place for flowers around the top. So I ended up with the light fixture show above and this rain barrel for just under $100, and saved about $100 on both! I’ll share some photos of the rain barrel once my husband gets it all installed.
