It’s #throwbackthursday and I have a bit of nostalgia to share with y’all. I was asked if I wanted a sneak peek at the special edition of The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh. This seemed fitting on account of how I just turned thirty and also, who doesn’t like Winnie The Pooh?
Plus, it’s just always really fun for me to introduce Scarlette and my nieces to things that I loved as a child. There is an entire bookshelf in Scarlette’s room that is stacked with copies of my favorite childhood books.
Scarlette actually hadn’t been introduced to Winnie The Pooh, other than a small quote I had framed in her room, and so, to get her excited about the movie I brought home her favorite thing in the entire world: a helium balloon.
(In case you are asking yourself, “Is Scarlette wearing a bazillion different pairs of pants while she watches an hour long movie?” the answer is YES and POTTY TRAINING, Y’ALL.Also, I would prefer to just let her be nekkid during this process but she has very strong opinions about wearing clothes.)
I had forgotten what a sweet movie this is. I love the focus on friendship, especially since it centers around the sweetness of childhood friendships.
When I was five years old I started kindergarten and a girl named Shawn laid her nap mat on the opposite side of the cubby I was near. It was supposed to be quiet when lights were out but we devised a way to pass little toys and games back and forth behind the gaps of the cubbies and the bookshelf.
Eventually we got caught and were separated but our friendship was cemented next to those cubbies. Most of my childhood memories involved getting into some sort of mischief with Shawn. Actually, a lot of my adult memories involved getting into some sort of mischief with Shawn, so there’s that.
(P.S. Shawnie, this movie made me think of you too, because of your sister’s obsession with Tigger)
There were so many sweet sentiments in the movie as well as memorable characters. My niece just loved Eeyore and Scarlette’s favorite part seemed to be when Tigger entered the scene. She spent the next few minutes jumping up and down and bouncing along to his singing. Speaking of my favorite Winnie The Pooh moments, here is the quote that I have framed in Scarlette’s room. I made it into a free printable so you can click this link to download it if you’d like: winniethepoohquote
